Naveen is one of the main characters, in the Disney film The Princess and the Frog.
The character also appears in the seventh season of the live-action TV series Once Upon a Time.
Canon
He is the eldest prince of the kingdom Maldonia. Due to his lazy and extravagant lifestyle, Naveen's parents have cut him off from their fortune. He is transformed into a frog by a voodoo witch doctor, Dr. Facilier. He kisses Tiana, believing she is a princess, but the spell backfires, turning her into a frog as well.

Naveen's pale skin tone and ambiguous race have sparked outrage among some fans, criticising the film for not making him African American too. This is seen as a huge hypocrisy by other fans, who preach that his race shouldn't matter, or that he 'isn’t white at least'.[citation needed] Some fans worry that, ironically, all this toxicity towards Naveen's race would discourage Disney from making the diversity leap again any time soon.
