Reactions and Reviews

This web story is a WIP (work in progress) and although I would normally never review WIPs, this author, who has published several stories on the net, does have a tendency to eventually finish them, so I am confident that will be the case here, as well.

This story starts out rather despairingly, with Spock about to be executed on an alien planet for the crime of murder. With the overwhelming evidence against him and the fact he himself cannot recall how or why he was found bent over the body of the female victim, her blood on his hands, there is little Kirk or Starfleet can do to save him. Not that Kirk wasn‘t determined to try, but with no idea where Spock was being held on the planet and unable to locate him on ship‘s scanners, there is absolutely nothing Kirk can do except keep the ship in orbit, hoping against hope that some miracle would come along and save his beloved Vulcan. But that miracle never does come along and after the time that Spock was to be executed has passed, all Kirk can do is mourn the loss of his friend, his last moments with Spock forever preserved on a tape a prison official gave him – a tape of their one and only meeting together after Spock was arrested. Still, Kirk cannot bring himself to watch it now that Spock is forever lost to him.

Now normally one would expect the story to end there, except for the fact that Spock‘s physiology is anything but normal and the drug that should have killed him failed to do so. Still, despite the fact he is alive, his survival remains precarious for he is a convicted murderer with the penalty of death on his head and he has no doubt that should he be found, his executioners would be sure to get it right the next time. His only hope is to somehow contact Kirk and let him know he is still alive so that Kirk can mount a rescue before it is too late. Now I don‘t want to reveal any more of the plot as this is a WIP, but I will say that of the stories this author has written, this one is definitely shaping up to be her best. She has proven to be a very talented author in the past and that talent is even more prevalent here. Her skill as a writer draws the reader into this story and leaves that reader wanting more. The love and compassion these two men have for each other is clearly emphasized in this work, making it a thoroughly enjoyable read. For myself, I can‘t wait for her to publish the next chapter.[1]
