Fans may buy posters to hang on their walls, but some also create their own. However, not all fan-made posters are created to be posted on a wall; there is a genre of fanart that mimics the style of print posters, especially movie posters and propaganda posters. Music fans also create posters to take to concerts, and some of these are shared on Tumblr.
Fan artists have created both traditional art and digital art in various poster styles. Some fanart imitates specific posters. Fans also sometimes make print posters from fanart.
