History
Polar Attraction was founded in August 2001 as a message board located on ezboard. The board administration, which was initially limited to Polarist, Peachykin and DarkVixen, later included Irish2002 who spearheaded a new Polar Attraction website. By September 2003, the founder Polarist switched the site to the domain PolarAttraction.com with a phpbb. Irish2002 had already recruited help from other fans, solidifying a group that would later be known as the "Polar Mafia" and became the administration behind the new website.[1]
On August 12, 2004, the team joined LiveJournal in order to keep members updated with information on the website.[2]
By April 2005, the forum started to use the new rating system: E (EVERYONE), YT (YOUNG TEEN), T (TEEN), M (MATURE), MA (MATURE ADULT).[3]
August 25, 2007 the archive was upgraded with the efiction software.[4]
Due to server difficulties, the board and archive was moved to PolarAttraction.net on January 11, 2009,[5] which would be the site's home until its closure in November 2013.[6]
