Reactions and Reviews

Today’s casefile took us a bit by surprise, although we suppose in retrospect it shouldn’t have. Joann Humby is one of our favorite writers, and we’ve recced quite a few of her stories in the past. But today’s rec is one that we actually wish we could have seen play out sometime during S7.

Bill Patterson is one of our favorite bad guys, and for good reason. He’s a master manipulator, able to get inside of Mulder’s head better than almost anyone else. So what happens when Patterson has been given a reprieve of his prison sentence, and wants to talk to Mulder? And what happens when Scully gets caught up in the mind games, too?

What follows is a casefile that will have you spellbound as it crisscrosses back and forth in time, following Mulder’s tenure under Bill Patterson in 1989 as he tries to track a serial killer in the LA area with another young agent named Diana Fowley, and the present day as he tries to figure out exactly how and why he and his partner have become the object of Patterson’s games yet again.[1]
