Reactions and Reviews

Spock and Sulu are stranded on a planet. Being enslaved, they have to perform sexually in a brothel. While giving a public performance, they are found by Kirk, who came on the scene unawares. Spock and Sulu get rescued and then it begins. Kirk has to confront his feelings for his Vulcan and Sulu has to deal with the fact that his relationship with Spock is finished. Spock has to deal with the fact that he wants that closeness he had with Sulu back—he loves him. And there that story loses credibility for me. Besides, that’s a Spock I don’t recognize at all.[1]

... Gail Lee's chilling "Outside", which manages to twist K/S into a stunning and possibly reasonable conclusion. After all, if being victims of the incredible circumstances writers are always dreaming up is enough to account for macho Kirk and Spock being led into what is usually a male/female bond, why wouldn't it work the same if Sulu and not Kirk is one being trapped with Spock this time? Not as much fun as the Dynamic Duo, perhaps, but not doubt psychologically just as logical. [2]
