Oscar Wilde is an Irish poet, novelist, and playwright. His best known works include The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest. He is also famous for having been convicted of "gross indecency" after losing a defamation lawsuit against the father of his lover Lord Alfred Douglas.
