orbitverse (also known as songs for loona) is a collaborative album created by fans of the K-Pop group LOONA to celebrate the group's first anniversary.

The album consists of fourteen original songs. It was created by twenty-eight different fans, including songwriters, composers, singers, producers, artists, editors, and more. It includes both English and Korean songs. It was initially announced to be released in September 2019, after being delayed from its original release date in August 2019.

History

Fan albums were already popular within LOONA's fandom, attributed to releases and success from ZSunder's remixes and original songs, such as I AM LOONA, New Moon, Half Moon, and others. However, this was the first known collaborative album.

It began under the name "songs for loona." They released their first teaser in July 2019, announcing the project. They released a subsequent album teaser (modeled after the promotion for official LOONA albums), teasing each of the songs in August 2019, before releasing the album in September of the same year.

Songs for Loona is a project created by many orbits who came together to make something wonderful for the girls first anniversary! Our goal was to gift an album made entirely by us for Loona. At one point, this seemed like a crazy idea, it came with many doubts, and could have ended up not working. However, we are proud to announce that we have created a full album with over 12 songs! Each one was made with passion and hard work from everyone who was a part of this project, and contributed to what it has become.[1]

The album is named after the Loonaverse, with "LOONA" being replaced with the official fan name "Orbit" to make "orbitverse". Hence, the album contains songs made by Orbits.

I've been into KPop since early 2010 and I've never seen a fandom do something like this for their idols. This is so precious, I am in love with the songs and the cover art. Every single one of you should be proud to have created such amazing work. I have never been more proud to call myself an Orbit, thank you for gifting such an invaluable present to our girls. i dont know a better fandom. Yall literally releases an album just for LOONA. And thats already enough to show how dedicated orbits towards loona are.[4]

This album having Western and Koreans song makes me emotional. Shows how Orbits are truly diverse and united and only wants Loona to be happy. I love Orbits[5]

When people say that LOONA deserve better fans or that Orbits are terrible fans and other horrible synonyms. Show them this, a bunch of Orbits legit made an album for the girls and fandom, like if that's not as supporting + promoting, idk what is. Y'all see other fandoms doing it like us? Smh.[6]

It's awesome hearing how diverse each song is and seeing how each producer and singer came together to create something so different yet so cohesive.

Ashley Alisha

One of LOONA's official songwriters, Ashley Alisha, responsible for composing "위성 (Satellite)" and "Curiosity”, was told about the fan album from an Orbit on Instagram. She commented on the YouTube video with heart emojis "😍😍😍".[8]

I don't know if you know, but there's been an Orbit-produced album called Orbitverse (made as a gift of sorts for Loona). I had nothing to do with it, but it's crazy how fans came together and made a whole album of songs[9]
