Orbit is one of the most popular Furiosa/Max fics on AO3, with over 42,000 hits as of June 2018. Originally a fill for the Mad Max Kink Meme, Orbit focuses on the relationship between Furiosa and Max Rockatansky and explores the changes in the Citadel after the events of Mad Max: Fury Road. In 2018, it was nominated for a couple of awards in the Mad Max Fanfic Awards and won Best Longfic (Ship). Primarybufferpanel (ArwenLune) was also one of the authors of The Mountains Are the Same.

Max thought he'd never want to see the Citadel again. And yet here he is and he isn't sure why. Furiosa greets him like this was always the plan, like he is one of her scouts. She looks strong and healthy again, recovered from her wound. Perhaps that is what he came to see?

He tells himself: 'One day. Supplies and water and food'. And then 'Maybe a night rest'.

Three days later he drives away, determined not to return.

(Three months later the Citadel comes into sight again)[1]

Reactions and Reviews

I can not say enough good about this fic. Every word and gesture and thought was perfect. I could even hear their voices as they spoke, which is hard to manage. So beautiful and full of hope. Bookmarked and will certainly read it again soon! -BelleAmante

Oh my god, I love this so much - the slow, careful pace that doesn't feel like it could be any faster, the relationship here, just aching from all these feelings that have fallen into disuse. The two of them sleeping together (just sleeping) is everything I have apparently ever wanted. Thank you so much for writing this. -blithers

Still the best, most healing, most considerate and comforting fic in this fandom, even on the fourth time I've read through it. Obviously I wanted to comment before then, but I feel of a kind with Max and his desire to not say much until it feels right or safe, and even then what to say, and even then, even then. Two people who never thought they'd ever be allowed to have what they found in each other and who deeply want to not let it unmake the person that they've had to be to survive. I love it, a lot. Thanks for writing it. -Orange
