Reactions and Reviews

This is described as a sequel to the author’s story, “Odyssey” in Beyond Dreams 1, but it’s not necessary to read that first because this story can stand on its own, which is a good thing.

This is after Spock’s return from Gol and they need to work out many issues in their relationship. Spock goes once again to the island of Corfu, off Greece, and Kirk goes after him. I really like the atmosphere of this place and I thought the setting was particularly well done with the hot sun, Spock’s family villa with the terrace and the ocean.

Spock tells Kirk they are mentally linked and that was one of the reasons he returned to Vulcan. They discuss their relationship and the bond and end up making love. This begins their duel of who’s in command—a theme I really enjoy. Very sexy foreplay with Kirk stood in front of Spock and masturbated. But then he penetrates Spock and afterwards, even though Spock hasn’t climaxed, he asks him about it and Spock just says how he can wait. Later we find out that Spock was shielding from Kirk because he felt Kirk’s unresolved anger.

Then they talk about Nicolas, Spock’s ex-lover from the previous story.

Later, after dinner, they have sex and Kirk is really angry at Spock for having left him and he expresses that anger with rough sex. But then Kirk apologizes and Spock realizes how traumatic his leaving had been. This is a very good idea, but a scene like this needs to be more fleshed out, so to speak, without explaining what is happening.

While they spend time together at the villa and in town, Kirk continues to be disturbed by doubts and fears of Spock’s abandonment. I liked how he wrestled with his own issues of control and dominance. I thought this was well shown. And again, I enjoyed the atmosphere of Greece.

Some very good interactions between them such as when Spock gets angry and orders Kirk to leave. Spock keeps saying he only wants what Kirk wants and, of course Kirk can’t accept it. But finally, they realize how much they love each other. There’s a good, hot scene where Spock takes command of Kirk sexually and gives him a blow job while Kirk leans against a wall.

I liked the interplay throughout the story of both their need to control and submit through their sexual encounters. I would have liked to have seen more of this fascinating idea. Overall, a really fine story. [1]

This 21 page story "Once and For All" is a sequel to "Odyssey" in BEYOND DREAMS 1. Unfortunately, I didn't read the first story, or I've forgotten it (I do have the world's worst memory). Thus I imagine I have missed out on a lot of the significance of the story.

The story starts on Earth with Kirk wanting to talk to Spock and finding out that he's just left on leave and didn't mention where he was going. Kirk remembers back to when they first became lovers and his feelings of rejection when Spock left for Gol. Kirk then decides to go to Corfu, where he'd had the interlude with Spock three years prior. It turns out that Kirk knows where to go because he and Spock are linked.

Spock and Kirk talk a lot and have sex. Then the story turns a sharp comer, and Spock starts telling Kirk all about an old lover called Nicolas because Kirk asks him to. The story continues to have its twists and turns. Things are not easy for Kirk and Spock. This story is different in that the sex and the love don't solve the problems the two men have with each other, and I like this aspect of the story very much because it's realistic. A quick screw doesn't solve problems that are long standing. In too many stories, once Kirk and Spock reach a sexual understanding or declare their love, the story stops developing. [2]

Although this story was written as a sequel to “Odyssey” in BD1, it can easily be read as a stand alone story, without any knowledge of the previous story. That dealt with Spock’s departure for Gol at the end of the first mission, this one deals with their reunion after events with V’ger. I must admit, given the ending of the first story, I was not quite sure while I was reading what the final outcome would be, given that Odyssey was quite a melancholy story, which helped to add to the suspense of whether they would overcome their problems or not, which made it an enjoyable read. After all, I personally don’t usually like my KSP fiction to be too predictable! As with the previous story, there were some nice touches, and some good descriptions of the Greek countryside where the story takes place. I love the ”clue” Spock leaves for Kirk in the beginning – a very original idea especially since the reader is not sure what he intends by it until much later near the end of the story. [3]
