Reactions and Reviews
Delightful, brisk, suspenseful tale of the aftermath of “The Watcher.” V/C become lovers, but the Watcher's photos and C's diary fall into the hands of Max Avery (unseen crook mentioned in "Ozymandius"), who considers it payback time for everyone close to C-Avery's only way to V. Joe, Jennie, Peter, and especially Elliot are particularly well portrayed here, as well as various members of the tunnel community, including Mouse, Cullan [sic], and Father. The tale is fast-moving, well-imagined, strong in characterization, and readable despite remarkably poor proofreading and a multitude of excess commas that make reading this otherwise enjoyable novelette, too often, a matter of making allowances. There's also the occasional unintentional British usage, which is a bit jarring but only natural under the circumstances and not a problem, compared to the bad mechanics. Two pictures, one a V portrait by Rosemarie Hauer, the other a study of Pascal by Pat Paone, are the zine's only art. Despite all reservations, warmly recommended. [1]
