Old Bold Spies is a gen digest-sized 46-page Man from UNCLE novel by Eileen Roy, published in November 1992. It consists of a framing story around eleven vignettes reprinted from The McCallum Observer; each vignette consists of an incident in the characters' post-movie lives and a thematically-linked flashback to their original UNCLE days.
Summary from the publisher, "There are old spies, and bold spies, but no old, bold spies." So sayeth Napoleon Solo. Man fron U.N.C.L.E. vignettes by Eileen Roy. Previously published in The McCallum Observer, the entire collection appears together for the first time. "Semi-retired" Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin ("We're only consultants--really!") are being interviewed by a reporter from the Smithsonian about their past exploits. But the former agent's versions of their adventures differ...someone slightly...from U.N.C.L.E.'s "official" versions, which were stashed safely away in the museum's archives. Digest size."
From the editorial: "Old, Bold Spies is a compilation of the vignettes that I have written for The McCallum Observer over the past twelve issues. (Yes, only eleven vignettes appear here. I skipped a month. Sorry about that...) All of them are based on the fictional reality established by both the Man from U.N.C.L.E. TV series and the movie, The Fifteen Years Later Affair, ameliorated with just a dash of 'real world' history. (Note for the Lords of Creation vignette: hurricane Iniki hit the islands of Hawaii approximately a week after hurricane Andrew left the Gulf Coast...)"
