Reactions and Reviews

Helen has written another story in her 'conventions a go-go' series. Not exactly funny is the promised Jim-gets-amnesia story, and actually, it *is* funny (not to mention that as amnesia stories go, it's a two-for-the-price-of-one kind of deal).[1]

Made me sob like a little bitch, which is one of the highest recommendations I can give.[2]

Helen certainly gets the job done, no kidding.[Note 1] This story stuck with me for days. After a traumatic fall, the boys get an unusual case of amnesia: they remember everything except each other. And, wow, wait till you see what happens! I love the way Helen writes Blair, he's feisty and stubborn, and perfectly Blair. Go read it, and everything else on her page, it's all fabulous, especially Restitution.[3]

Best FF That Teaches Us the Proper Way to Determine If We're Sleeping with Our Roommates, and the Improper Way to Behave Once We Remember That We Weren't: Not Exactly Funny, by Helen/helenish. The Sentinel, Jim/Blair. There was a time when I thought amnesia stories just shouldn't work. Then I read a few good ones and decided that in a skilled writer's hands amnesia could be quite effective. But now I think amnesia FF works because it's close kin to AU FF; we get to see what would happen if the characters started over. And in this story, it's especially nice to see Jim and Blair asking themselves the same question that everyone who ever saw the show must've asked - namely, how can this not be a sexual relationship? [4]

Jim and Blair forget each other, and then they decide - much like everyone who's seen the show - that they must surely be sleeping together. What follows is hilarity, angst, and more angst. And sex, obviously.[5]
