The New Mutants is a Marvel Comics superhero group (a spin-off of the X-Men) - which had its own comic title as well.
Canon
They first appeared in The New Mutants (September 1982), the original team consisted of:
- Cannonball (Samuel Guthrie)
- Karma (Xi'an Coy Manh)
- Mirage (Danielle Moonstar)
- Sunspot (Roberto da Costa)
- Wolfsbane (Rahne Sinclair)
Team later expanded to include:
- Cypher (Douglas Ramsey)
- Magik (Illyana Rasputin)
- Magma (Amara Juliana Olivians Aquilla)
- Warlock
- Boom-Boom (Tabitha Smith)
- Rusty Collins
- Rictor (Julio Richter)
- Skids (Sally Blevins)
- "Domino" (Vanessa Geraldine Carlysle) - Actually Copycat, impersonating Domino.

The second New Mutants series, launched in 2003, featured a new group of teenage mutants and in 2004, it was relaunched as New X-Men: Academy X, after which the central group was formally dubbed the "New Mutants." The New Mutants, advised by Dani Moonstar, were:
- Elixir (Josh Foley)
- Icarus (Joshua Guthrie)
- Prodigy (David Alleyne)
- Surge (Noriko Ashida)
- Wallflower (Laurie Collins)
- Wind Dancer (Sofia Mantega)
- Wither (Kevin Ford)
The third New Mutants series, reuniting most of the original team, was launched in May 2009, the team consisted of Cannonball, Karma, Magik, Magma, Dani Moonstar, Sunspot, and Nate Grey.
Other Adaptations
- X-Men: Evolution (2000–2003) featured Boom-Boom, Cannonball, Magma, Sunspot and Wolfsbane. Other members, such as Berzerker, Iceman, Jubilee, and Multiple Man were not New Mutants in the comic book series, but were part of the New Mutants team on the series. Dani Moonstar also appears in one episode.
- New Mutants is the name given to the "race" of Mutants on the television show Mutant X.
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) featured several of the New Mutants characters in supporting roles, namely Blink, Warpath, and Sunspot.
- The Gifted (2017-2019) featured Blink as a main character.
- New Mutants film is scheduled to be released in April 2020.
