neatao3tags is a Twitter account run by a fan named Kate[1], highlighting interesting, funny, or otherwise "neat" tags found on the Archive Of Our Own.

Account History

Kate created the account in July 2019 and gained followers quite rapidly; there were 43.6k followers as of October 2019 and 47.4k followers as of April 2020.[2]

Basically, I kept seeing tags that were really funny while reading fic, and I kinda had that instinct where you wanna like, share the funny thing with people. So, I went on Twitter to see if there was any funny AO3 tags-type account I could submit to, but I couldn't find any, or at least any that were still active, so I just kinda figured I’d make one?[1]

The account was active from July 2019 until January 2020, then posted a few more tags in April 2020 before appearing to abandon the account. neatao3tags's first tweet in April was "[i have come back from the dead to say one thing and one thing only,, reylos block me]"[3] neatao3tags posted a link to their carrd the next day and tweeted "i just dont want ppl who dont think fiction affects reality following me".[4]

neatao3tags's carrd indicates that it is run by anti-shippers:

  • this account doesn’t support ‘anti-antis’ (pls leave)
  • in that same vein pls don’t follow if you ship or condone peodophilic, incestous, or abusive ships[5]

Many people did not know the account was run by antis until the April 2020 tweets[6][7][8], but some had known all along[9].
