Mystical Nights: a Magi 1001 Arabian Nights Zine is a gen Magi zine released in September 30, 2021 as a digital PDF. The theme of the zine is the Arabian Nights/One Thousand and One Nights. It is 76 pages long and has 5 fanfics and 11 pieces of fanart. It was sold on Gumroad. The zine was supposed to be released physically and with merch in addition to the PDF, but this proved to be impossible when one of the mods disappeared.
Mod disappearance
The mods of the zine were Manami, Asteria and Nero, and the zine team was supposed to start working on the design and printing at around April. Out of the three mods, mod Nero, who was supposed to handle the printing, disappeared around June 2021 from the internet as well as from the reach of the other mods. The mod in question had already withdrawn the money from Gumroad.[1] When the mod continued to be gone until September, and people kept asking the team about where the zines were, the other mods decided to release the PDF for everyone who had placed their order, as well as raws of all the images that were supposed to be used in the merch.[2] They tried to refund everyone on Gumroad, but because Nero had already taken the money, not everyone was able to be refunded through the site. The other mods stated that they would not be able to refund anyone else out of their own pocket, and therefore, while some got refunded for the zine, others didn't, and some who had ordered multiple zines lost more than a hundred dollars worth of money.[3]
