The Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens is a series of books focused on two crime-solving school girls, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong, who set up a detective agency at their boarding school, Deepdean School for Girls. A subsequent series in the same universe, The Ministry of Unladylike Activity, follows Hazel's younger sister and features characters from Murder Most Unladylike regularly.
Robin Stevens has been outspoken about their appreciation and love for fanworks, posting in celebration of the existence of the Murder Most Unladylike fandom space of platforms like Archive of Our Own, while also maintaining a stance of never reading fanfiction to maintain a respectful distance from what she considers should remain a fan space.
Canon
The books take influence from (and celebrate doing so) other book series in both the crime genre — such as Agatha Christie's works and the Sherlock Holmes novels — and children's stories such as those by Enid Blyton.
