Ms. Marvel is a television miniseries set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, focused on the character Kamala Khan from the Marvel Comics, played by Iman Vellani.

Canon

The series follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old muslim girl from New Jersey, who gets superpowers after putting on a bangle her grandmother sent her. Together with her best friend Bruno, she practices using her new powers and tries to figure out where they came from. While running from Damage Control, her new classmate Kamran saves her and reveals that his mother belongs to a group of people, referred to as the Djinn, from a different dimension, who want to use the bangle to go back home. When Kamala hesitates because it might be dangerous, they become antagonistic and try to forcefully take the bangle from her. When the bangle gets hit during a fight, Kamala gets a vision that causes her to visit her grandmother in Pakistan, where she meets a group called the Red Daggers. They tell her that using the bangle to open a doorway into the other dimension would destroy this one. During another fight with the Djinn, Kamala gets teleported back into the past, where she learns that her great-grandmother was a Djinn too, but knowing the danger of trying to go back into her dimension, she chose to stay, marrying a human man and having a child with him. When the other Djinn caught up with her, the family fled, and she gave the bangle to her daughter, Kamala's grandmother, for safekeeping, shortly before Kamran's mother killed her for her betrayal. Returning to the present, Kamala realizes that the bangle being hit opened up a doorway to the other dimension, but when the Djinn try to go through it, they die. With her last breath, Kamran's mother sends powers to her son, who now has to evade Damage Control. Back in America, Kamala tries to help him hide, but they get cornered. Kamala contacts the Red Daggers, who agree to smuggle Kamran to Pakistan, and the public steps in to help, giving them enough time to escape. Due to public opinion, Damage Control drops their pursuit of Kamala. In the last scene, Kamala is in her bedroom, when she suddenly disappears and Carol Danvers appears in her place instead.
