"Mother's Day" is the third in Florence A. Watson (fawatson)'s The Difficult Age series of short stories based on Mary Renault's 1953 novel The Charioteer. It is set between the first two chapters of the book, when Laurie is fourteen.
Synopsis
At Laurie's boarding school, Parent's Day in the spring term falls the day before Mothering Sunday.[1] His mother is driven to his school by Col. Ramsay,[2] to whom she has just got engaged. However, she has not so far been able to bring herself to write to her son about it.
