Morbius is a villain from Marvel Comics who first appeared in a Spider-Man comic in 1971 and was adapted into a film in 2022.

The movie, which is part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, was directed by Daniel Espinosa and starred Jared Leto as the title character, Dr. Michael Morbius. It was released by Sony and can probably be rated amongst the year's biggest box-office flops.[1]

2022 Movie Fandom

The name of the fans is Morbheads.

This fandom sprouted from an ironic meme, where people would hate watch the film, spread it, pirate it and make outstandish claims about its performance in cinemas and relevancy all together. They are also famous for having coined the phrase "It's Morbin' time". A reference to the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and a catchphrase that it's not actually in the film, but fooled many into thinking it was.

the best part of Morbius was when he said "IT'S MORBIN' TIME" and morbed all over those guys[2]

Thanks to the memes and edits the fandom made, Sony decided to bring back the film to theaters again on June 3rd , which resulted in another flop.

Some actors joined in the fun, like Jared Leto who posted a video reading a fake script with the title "Morbius 2:It's Morbin' time". Or Tyrese Gibson who mistakenly posted an edited quote onto his instagram.

It must be remarked that although most of the fandom consists of ironic fans, not all of them are so, there are also fans who genuinely enjoyed the film and create fanworks out of love for it.
