Monitor Duty is a newsletter promoting exclusively DC and Marvel comics fandom collecting fiction, art, icons, community news etc. into a one place.[1]
Moderated community, only selected members can participate, with weekly updates, with one or more moderators -- called monitors -- in charge for a specific day.
The rotation of editors/monitors over the years of community activity was very high, reaching between 3 or 5 names publishing on a Thursday or Friday, alternating with each other. This turnover also led to editors/monitors who published very few times, even being the name behind a single entry.
On September 1, 2010, the community has posted an entry called Hiatus Announcement,[2] since then until the present moment of the year 2021 the community has never returned to activities.
Beginning today, monitor_duty is going on hiatus for the rest of the year, to give tired Monitors a chance to let their weary eyes and aching wrist tendons heal. I recommend comicstore_news as an excellent comic-based newsletter during our absence!
Thanks so much to all the Monitors who've put in so much time and effort over the last four years to keep things up to date. And extra and eternal thanks to all the authors, artists, icon-makers, manippers, fanmixers, and meta-writers who make fandom the bustling, fun place it is. Keep up the good work!
