Miriam English is a long-time science fiction fan, computer wizard, builder of virtual worlds, artist, web designer, author and editor.

She was involved in running Spaced Out, the LGBT+ science fiction group between 1999 and 2004. This included being co-editor of the newsletter Diverse Universe, the fanzine Solar Spectrum, and the Ditmar Award-winning Spaced Out website.

In the days before zoom and other live forums on social media, Miriam helped to run a virtual reality program for Aussiecon 3, the third Australian Worldcon in Melbourne in 1999. At that convention, and others, she also participated in panels on LGBT+ science fiction.
