Miles Prower, better known as Tails, is a two-tailed, flying anthropomorphic fox from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Depending on the source material, he is four to twelve years old, and usually has yellow, orange or brown fur. He can fly with his tails, but is also often depicted as a pilot and a child prodigy regarding technology. He is the best friends with the protagonist of the series, Sonic.
Fandom
Tails is a popular character across Sonic's varied sub-fandoms.
There is some controversy with his caracterization in some modern Sonic media, like games and comics, with some fans believing that he can be too dependent of Sonic in some games like Sonic Forces [1] , while others think that he was too mean-spirited in others like the Archie Comics or Sonic Lost World. Others don't have that many problems with his personality in these games, or just don't care a lot.
Many fans like drawing fanart of how they imagine Tails would look like when he becomes older, with some common features being him now having brown fur in his ears or other parts of his body, and/or getting more tails, making him closer to a tradicional Kitsune.
Tailsko
Tailsko is the fanmade female genderbend of Tails that is often seen in fanarts.
Ships
Taiream, his pairing with Cream the Rabbit, and Tailsmo, his pairing with Cosmo the Seedrian, are probably his most popular pairings; there was a ship war between the two for years. Sontails, which pairs him up with Sonic, is controversial in many places like Tumblr because of things like the characters' ages and their relationship often being seen as brotherly in many canons. Another controversial pairing is him with Rouge the Bat, known as Tailouge, also because of their age differences, though is it a rare ship to be seen outside of NSFW material.
He also has some canonical romances and crushes that are more rare, but still seen sometimes in fanworks, like with Zooey from Sonic Boom, Mina Mongoose, and Fiona Fox, which is known as Tailiona.
