Meryl Stryfe is depicted in Trigun Stampede as a brand new journalist out on assignment with Roberto De Niro. She is headstrong, passionate, and the one in charge of driving the car (a vehicle she canonically forgets to charge!). Meryl is in her early 20's, and grew up in a larger city, where she attended university. She dreams of being the editor-in-chief someday, and proudly announces this intention when first introduced. She has a significant hand in driving the story, and is the force that keeps the group of Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Roberto de Niro, and herself traveling together. Her tenacity and sometimes ill-advised bravery has a significant effect on the jaded veteran reporter Roberto, who in turn leaves a lasting impression on Meryl through his reluctant mentorship. Meryl also plays a major role in the first season's climax; she once again demonstrates both extreme bravery and a deep faith in her friends.
