Mel Medarda/Viktor, also known as MelVik, is a non-canon ship from the animated series Arcane featuring the characters Mel Medarda and Viktor. This ship grew in popularity after Season 2 of Arcane.
Canon
Mel is one of Viktor's Hextech investors, and was intimately involved with his partner, Jayce. Much isn't known about their dynamic, except that they both disagree on matters of Piltover and Zaun politics, with Viktor being firmly against weaponising hextech and Mel having a more malleable approach. It's uncertain if Viktor blames Mel for Jayce's involvement in weaponry projects or the Zaun riots.
Mel's magic manifests in geometric patterns while Viktor's are more organic, mirroring their cities, Piltover and Zaun's themes of Art Déco and Art Nouveau. The use of gold is common in both, with Mel's being closer to plating (superficial addiction) and Viktor's kintsugi (internal connection).
Fandom
Fans like to imagine their relationship pre-Arcane, typically with Viktor and Mel having been lovers before she met Jayce. There's little to no interaction regarding original League lore between Mel and Viktor, probably since Mel didn't exist back then. There are, though, interactions featuring new League lore, especially taking into account their canon League interactions.
MelVik is the most common portmanteau for the pairing, though VikMel is also used. The order of the smooshnames tend to hold no indication of the pairing dynamic. They are often associated with the sun (Mel) and moon (Viktor) by many fans. Their nature as mages is also a common pairing feature, with Mel being a natural born one and Viktor gaining his powers from Hextech.
In fandom, this pairing exists frequently as a precursor to MelJayVik and MelJay.
