MasterChef RPF is a small real-person fiction fandom that focuses on amateur and home chefs competing to win the title of 'MasterChef.' First beginning with a British version in 1990, it has since spawned multiple international spinnoffs and has been "adapted in over 65 territories worldwide, and broadcast in over 200, MasterChef is watched globally by over 300 million viewers and has transformed many lives the world over."

It is commonly used as a trope in Crossovers and AUs with characters from other fandoms being placed into the set of the MasterChef franchise as part of a Fandom Fusion. As of Febraury 2024, of the 118 publically viewable fanfics tagged with MasterChef (TV) RPF on Archive of Our Own, 47 of them are tagged with multiple fandoms which is 40%.

Spinoffs

MasterChef RPF began in the UK but has since spun off into a variety of other countries. As of today, there are 141 different versions of the show sourcing from 66 countries. These numbers also include shows from the 3 sub-specific spinoff formats which have developed: MasterChef: The Professionals where the contestants are professional chefs, Celebrity MasterChef where the contestants are celebrities, and Junior MasterChef where the contestants are children.
