Maria the Hedgehog is a Alternate Universe version of Maria often seen on fanart, where she has either always been a hedgehog, or turned into one after dying in the Ark. Her origins are not certain, but she seens to have been created by Deviantart user E09ETM, who had drawn fanart of her as early as 2006.[1]. This version of Maria usually has long spikes that look like her human hair, wears clothes very similar to her human counterpart and is often paired up with Shadow the Hedgehog in some way. She was popular enough to have a fanclub on Deviantart.
