Reactions and Reviews
1989
To me, this one had voice problems. The sentences were too long and adjective-laden to sound like Kirk. But note that I usually do have trouble with first-person K/S. And this has some real good bits: "it was as if the very tiny hairs on my arms were moving. Every cell in my body reached for him." [1]
1990
I'm sure that the author thinks all those tears are romantic. I think that she needs to find a way to make the reader cry rather than the characters. I also didn't think it was very romantic for Spock to sling Kirk over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. This goes contrary to the mood that the author seemed to be trying to establish. A romantic carrying his lover to bed should be tenderly embracing the loved one in his arms.[2]
1998
Fun equipment Spock has. I like to see him a bit different from human, but I did worry that the tendrils would rip if Kirk moved his foot. Nice sex scene, erotic without being unreal. I rather think that anal sex by untried partners would hurt some, so I find scenes where they proceed at full speed somewhat painful to read. I like a scene that I can feel I'm in (as much as a woman can be in a m/m scene).[3]
