Malenia, also known as Malenia, Blade of Miquella and Malenia the Severed, is a character in Elden Ring.
Canon
Malenia and her twin brother Miquella were born to Queen Marika and her consort Radagon. Due to the fact that their parents were incarnations of a single person, the twin demigods were chosen as Empyreans, but both were born with severe magical afflictions. Malenia was cursed with Scarlet Rot, a kind of magical leprosy destined to slowly consume her body, and Miquella was cursed to forever remain a child physically. Malenia grew into a fearsome warrior and her brother's sworn sword, while Miquella, an inventor, sought to find a way to cure her Scarlet Rot. He eventually developed a needle of unalloyed gold that halted the Rot's progression but could not cure it. By the time of the Shattering, Malenia had lost both eyes, both legs, and her right arm to the Scarlet Rot. However, this did not diminish her prowess in battle, as she outfitted herself with a prosthetic arm and legs.
Malenia faced down her half-brother General Radahn in one-on-one combat at the height of the Shattering war for unknown reasons. This duel ended in a bitter stalemate when Malenia unleashed the full power of her Scarlet Rot. Radahn was left to wander Caelid – now reduced to a horrific wasteland – as a mindless husk. The incapacitated Malenia was carried back to the Haligree by a retainer. There, she fell into a deep slumber, awaiting her brother's return (Miquella having been kidnapped before or during the Shattering).
