Recs and Reviews

Represents all that is good and right with Sentinel slash.[1]

One of the best First Time stories I have ever had the pleasure to read. Lovely characterizations, witty dialogue, refreshing humor, and an incredibly HOT love scene accentuate this tale of love confronted and then indulged in excruciating detail. Definitely a must-read for all First-Time aficionados.[2]

Have I ever mentioned that anything Merry Lynne writes is worth reading, as in drop-what-you're-doing-and-go? Eventually I will rec all her stories, but I hope you don't wait that long to read them. This is one of my favorites. Jim and Blair have a bit of a revelation moment, in a semi-public place, and the resulting reactions from their friends and co-workers had me laughing out loud. Not to mention how hot that kiss is...and then other stuff happens. It's all good. Trust me. For contrast (and just because this is an easy way to sneak in two Merry-recs), check out Promises, which forever blows out of the water the tired theory that a PWP can't be fandom and character specific - these aren't generic guys fucking their brains out, here, this is Jim and Blair. You, gentle Reader, will be a big puddle on the floor when you're done reading.[3]

This time there is no outside event pushing them together, just a critical mass of feelings that cannot be denied any longer. Once again, all about characterization and a nice smutty ending too. This story hits a lot of Sentinel cliches, but only in a good way. Blair deals with the situation by running away, Jim is slow to react but once he does there is no stopping him. There's a pool on when they will get together, and the other guys are not surprised to see them together, only about where they got caught. There is a bit of angst, because Jim and Blair can't do anything the easy way, but the humor never disappears even in the most heated moments.[4]

Rereading favorite stories to cheer myself up, I found that several of them had gone unrecommended until now, including Merry Lynne's Major crimes, a sweet and funny Sentinel first-time story that I'm sure everyone has already read. But then, this is about things that get read over and over again.[5]
