Excerpts

"What about Wintershock as a pairing appeals to you?

The mental image of two smug and sassy brunettes with sly smirks and a propensity for taking literally every psycho-weird thing in stride and kicking/tasing the asses of strangers pestering their stupid friends. The mental image of said smug and sassy brunettes teaming up. Especially shirtless and smirking over their shoulders at someone who’s either really regretting walking through that unlocked door without knocking or really mad at themselves for not doing it half an hour ago.

On that note, I will also admit to a definite weakness for including Steve and making it a triad because with their powers combined Bucky and Darcy would break that poor boy’s brain and dammit Steve deserves sexy bossy brunettes, but really I could stick just about anybody in there and get similar results.

… god, have I really not written WinterShieldShock yet? What is wrong with me?

Also, Darcy again will literally roll with anything and she would roll with the Winter Soldier too, and do it without making it a big traumatic all-consuming thing. She would roll him right over. "

"Do you have any specific Wintershock headcanons that you’ve written into your fics or seen on Tumblr/in someone else’s fic? I actually do not! I do have Darcy headcanons and Bucky headcanons that I lean towards but the twain have yet to meet. Since they still haven’t met in canon when I think of scenarios for them I tend to just come up with something completely new and go from there, so there isn’t really a “default” setup I go for, at least at the moment."

"Of the stories that you’ve written concerning them, which one is your favorite and why?

I’ve only actually written the two and they’re fairly different in tone/scope, so I don’t know if I could say I had a proper favorite between them. “I once started out to walk around the world but ended up in Brooklyn” is much more popular than “we are not history yet; we are happening now”—it’s by far my most popular fic period, in fact—but it was also written very off-the-cuff and didn’t get as much effort put into it as “we are not history yet; we are happening now” did. Admittedly they both seesaw pretty drastically between crack and feels, but they also both definitely favor opposite directions of the scale.

I guess if I had to pick a favorite it should be “I once started out to walk around the world but ended up in Brooklyn”, since it was the first fic I’d written in quite a while and it got me into writing fic at all again. Also, I usually ruin Bucky’s life much worse than I did in that one, so it’s nice to know I gave him mercy and cotton candy at least the once. "

"What Wintershock fic by someone else would you recommend to others to read? What about this fic appeals to you? I think redbrunja’s “not a dandy or the sharpest knife in the drawer” is just shy of my ideal IC dynamic for Wintershock, I liked I_Mushi’s “My Name On Your Skin” quite a lot (soulmate AU! and WinterShieldShock!), and I like Rainne’s writing in general, plus Rainne does nice long stories you can actually spend some time on (and also likes WinterShieldShock, which is another bonus). I’m sure there’s others I’d rec but I’ve mostly been reading Stucky and Barbershop Quartet lately so that’s all the Wintershock I’ve got off the top of my head."
