Excerpts

What about Wintershock as a pairing appeals to you?

I think just their whole dynamic is fantastic. There are so many places to take them, you can explore the angst, or give them some of the fluff that we will never get to see on screen. They are both, at the heart of it, good people in a world that is sometimes very bad, and they have both experienced some of the very worst.

The two of them are also sort of constantly battling other’s preconceived notions of who they are, people trying to put them into boxes. Bucky overcoming the things he did and who he became under Hydra’s thumb, and the way people perceive him because of it. And Darcy, sort of being thrust into a world of aliens and monsters and trying to keep her humor and sense of humanity, along with maybe not being taken as seriously because of her looks or her soft science degree. I think they both need someone who can look past all of the outside stuff and appreciate who they are inside.

Plus, they are both snarky as hell, and I live for that.

How did you first encounter the pairing?

I was originally a Tasertricks girl (I think it is the Darcyland Gateway Ship), and then I ended up in the Steve/Darcy tag somehow. I stumbled on an OT3 at some point and then I was like, those two. I want those two together.

What kind of Wintershock story would you love to read that hasn’t been written yet by you or others?

Hmm, there are so many wonderful takes on these two, I don’t even know. I am always here for more Civil War fix-it fics. Especially since the one I am working on keeps getting pushed to the side. And they’ve been written before, but I can’t think of anything better than a good, old, super-tropey fic. Bed-sharing, fake relationship, huddling for warmth. Give me a million of them and I’ll enjoy them all.
