Fanon and tropes

Youtube Poop

Luigi was a frequent target in Youtube Poop videos, with the episode 13 of Super Mario World cartoon from DiC Entertainment, titled "Mama Luigi", even reaching cult status. Most Luigi related YTP comes from this episode. There are also other scenes used like the "It's a stone, Luigi" scene and from the videogame "Hotel Mario".

Weegee Meme

The "Weegee" meme originates from an awkwardly pixelated Luigi's sprite in the DOS version of Mario Is Missing!, a 1993 educational video game. In the game, Luigi has wide eyes, and a slightly unsettling expression due to low-resolution graphics. Weegee became popular in mid 2000s on platforms like 4chan, YouTube, and DeviantArt. While not as widely used today, Weegee is a classic example of early internet humor and is sometimes referenced nostalgically.[3]

Luigi's Death Stare by Mellownoiz (2014)

Luigi's Death Stare

This meme originated in 2014, following the release of Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Wii U. Players noticed that Luigi's in-game animations, particularly when using weapons or passing rivals, often included an intense, angry glare directed at other racers amplified by the slow-motion replays. This contrasts with the usually wholesome image of Luigi. Players began sharing screenshots of Luigi’s glare on social media, accompanied by humorous captions. Even non-gaming media like Fox News reported it.[4] It also became a symbol of Luigi's supposed "hidden dark side".
