Reactions and Reviews

I was in the mood for one of my absolute favourite comfort reads late last night - JoJo's Love in a Cold Country.

There's freezing snow-covered countryside; Bodie hurt, and stuck out in the open under fire; and Doyle trying to cope with the situation, whilst dealing with tragic memories of the past overlapping the present.

It's so good: understated, fabulous descriptions, lovely dry humour, Bodie with a beard... what? :D

My favourite line involves the beard... "Up close the new look leant Bodie the air of a particularly disenchanted and sleep-deprived Italian fisherman." See! *g* ... it's also slash, of the sweetest hottest kind.[1]

I love this story! And Bodie as a sleep-drived Italian fisherman (with muscles) might have something to do with it......And yes, 'understated' - I love subtle, understated writing and this writer understates particularly well. And yes, the dry (also understated, my favourite kind) humour. All in all, a great read.[2]

It's one of my absolute favourite stories, and one I go back to more than most. I love the byplay with Cowley too, which is very much canon, but seems to get lost in quite a lot of fiction... long after I've forgotten exactly what it's about, I still remember all sorts of parts of it - the taste of a baby's kiss; Bodie looking scruffy and sexy, and his moment with the radio out in the yard; the beard; Doyle comforting Bodie... so many lovely little details all crammed into one fic. Perfect! [3]

One of my alltime favourite Pros fics. Just wonderful writing...[4]
