loonathedrought refers to periods of inactivity between LOONA releases. It originated during the year-long hiatus between LOONA's [X X] and [#] mini albums, dubbed the "drought" by fans. It roughly occurred between from February 19, 2019 to February 5, 2020.
During this time, fans experienced a severe lack of content and communication from LOONA's company, BlockBerryCreative, leading to unrest and concern within the fandom. Since then, the term has continued to be used by Orbits to refer to periods of inactivity or hiatuses between LOONA's comebacks, though it remains most strongly associated with the post-Butterfly hiatus.
