Living Years is a VCR-era fanvid that was mentioned in the book Enterprising Women.

"A prizewinning songtape at a fan convention used the song "Living Years" to set Thomas Magnum's relationships with his father, who died when he was a child, and his living but feckless grandfather against his relationship with his daughter. Fans automatically recognize how well the song illustrates the emotional context of the well chosen scenes, pulling together out of the macroflow of the series a single theme: the deep and abiding love that enmeshes the characters in painful and problematic family relationships. The result, for even cursory fans of the show, is one of the more deeply moving songtapes created in the community. To a nonparticipant untrained in deciphering the tapes, or for a participant who has not seen the series, how ever, the songtape has no meaning at all."[1]
