Reactions and Reviews
Eight pages full of joy... and of sadness. After two years on the Enterprise Kirk and Spock declare their love. They do it matter-of-factly like two grown-ups. No delaying the inevitable: both simply belong together and they acknowledge it. But they have also to accept the uncertain future of their love. Three years later they meet their fate in the form of Nogura, who is offering Kirk the rank of Admiral.... The ending of this bittersweet story was one of the most touching explanations I ever read about Spock’s departure to Gol. “...the emptiness within his soul telling him Spock was no longer on the Enterprise.” “T’hy’la, you could have stayed outside my heart, but in you came. There you will stay. It is time for you to go.” Fortunately, we all know they’ll meet again in STI, so we can indulge easily in this sadness.... [1]
