Reactions and Reviews
1989
A nice ending to the zine, sweet feeling between them. This story was especially well-written and the insight into the characters was very good. Almost all the stories in the zine, and this one in particular, support a line that was in one of the other stories: "It is not logical that we be apart."[1]
This story was my favorite in the zine. I always prefer the serious over the light-hearted or erotic, and this story presented powerful inner conflicts and concerns. The mood was also very tender and loving. Even the title—and the idea behind it—is touching. Though I found this story very satisfying, I felt it left a loose end in that just because Kirk and Spock start a relationship doesn't necessarily mean that the dreams are going to stop. Also, on page 158, Spock's extreme anger happened too suddenly. But those are minor complaints and I enjoyed the story a great deal. I thought it poignant when Spock—while referring to McCoy holding his katra—tells Kirk, "...the entire time I was with a friend, you were... alone."[2]
1992
The author always manages to infuse much tenderness and warmth between our favorite command pair along with a deep respect also, something which I find sadly lacking from some K/S stories. Caring fairly seeps from the pages as Spock eases the pain of too many nightmares accumulated over a lifetime. [3]
