Las Leyendas, distributed under the title Legend Quest in English-speaking regions, is an animated television series. It is a reimagining of the Leyendas series of animated films.
Overview
Beginning with the 2007 film La leyenda de la Nahuala, the Leyendas animated film series has followed the supernatural adventures of 9-year-old protagonist Leonardo "Leo" San Juan in early 19th century Mexico. The films found domestic success among Mexican audiences.
The Leyendas films were reimagined in the Las Leyendas animated TV series, which was distributed worldwide by Netflix. The television series kept many of the main characters and the premise of supernatural adventures, but changed several elements, such as ageing up the protagonists to teenagers and altering romantic subplots, adding connections to the 21st century through time travel, and extending the original supernatural focus from indigenous Mesoamerican folklore to a globe-trotting "monster-of-the-week" series featuring different world cultures.
