I enjoyed "The Music Contest" where Spock enters a competition using his own classical composition of Earth classical styles. A beautiful story. [1]

I recommend "Carry Forth the Past" in which Pike is rescued by aliens but has amnesia and does not remember his promise to return. [2]

Issue 5

Koon-ut-kal-if-fee 5 is a single 147-page novel called "Childhood's End" by Sue Toner and Fran Ball. It was published in December 1986.

The cover is by Sue Toher, and it contains no interior illustration.

Summary from an publisher's ad in 1987: "...this story gives an alternative to the solving of James T, Kirk's problems with Star-fleet Command and, in certain respects, continues after Star Trek IV. When a Federation starship intercepts a distress call from a Romulan scout, little do they realise the intrigue, deception and double-cross that will face them. Once again, James Kirk finds himself involved in a conspiracy which, if he loses could bring down the Federation... and James Kirk doesn't like to lose."

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 5

I find it hard to write about "Childhood's End" due to the fact that it covers events about which I have my own very strong ideas, all at varience with those of Fran and Sue! This is not to say that it is not good. I believe it is good! However, I cannot really judge because I was thinking, all through, 'No! No! No!," a problem from most readers would not suffer! [3]

Koon-ut-kal-if-fee Kollected

Koon-ut-kal-if-fee Kollected was originally published in 1983, and reprinted around 1987. It contains 120 pages and has stories from issues #2, #3, and #4. All stories are by Fran Ball and Sue Toher.
