2/5. I did not enjoy this one bit. I just find it incredibly hard to believe that the federation would ever make such strict regulations for childbirth. I find it even harder to believe that breaking these laws would be punishable by castration or forced marriage to someone of the same sex. It's just so incredibly not plausible. I also can't believe that Jim Kirk doesn't use contraception. This whole thing is just so out of character that it's hard to read. The writing's fine, if a little weird, but it's not enough to save it. I can usually enjoy arranged marriage stories, they can be a lot of fun if handled well, especially in humourous stories, but this one isn't humourous, it isn't fun, it's just awkward. The second chapter is a little better, more in character, and easier to get through. All in all, not a very good fic.[1]
