Kirihara Akaya is a member of the Rikkai tennis club in Prince of Tennis. He's the only second year member of the regulars, and was believed to be prospective rising captain for most of the story.

Kirihara is popular in ships, in Rikkai-focused fanworks, and in works depicting him as one of the next-generation captains along with Hiyoshi Wakashi, Zaizen Hikaru and Kaidoh Kaoru. There was some consternation when Tamagawa Yoshio was introduced and announced to be Rikkai's actual next captain.
