Just Old Friends is a Kirk/Spock story by Robin Hood.
It was published in the print zine Of Course Another K/S Zine.
Summary
"Afraid that they will die before a cure is found for the radiation sickness that is aging them, Spock confesses his feelings to Kirk."
Reactions and Reviews
With Spock realizing that he and Kirk might have little time left in "The Deadly Years," he takes enough time to let Kirk know how he feels about him, no easy task considering Kirk's state of mind. We get a clear picture of how fast both men are losing their faculties. But somehow Spock manages to get through to his captain before leaving to help Dr. Wallace find a cure. And while it turned out that Spock's feelings are reciprocated, how much will Kirk remember if they live? Later, after a cure is found and a still elderly Spock is led from the bridge for his own shot of rejuvenation, Kirk lets him know that he remembers. They'll have their time after all. A short, though lovely story. [1]
