Fandom
The Magnus Archives fandom derives much amusement from the fact that Sims named the protagonist after himself. Fans often refer to the creator of the podcast as "Johnny" to distinguish him from his fictional protagonist. There is crossover fandom interest between TMA, The Mechanisms, and Re: Dracula, due to Sims' roles as writer and voice actor across the three (as songwriter, and voicing character Jonny d'Ville in The Mechanisms, head writer and voice actor for protagonist Jonathan Sims in The Magnus Archives, and voice actor for Jack Seward in Re:Dracula).
*talking to someone I’m trying to get into tma* Ok so that’s Jon, the main character. Then there’s Jonny, the guy who wrote it. There’s also Jonny, Jonny’s character in the band the Mechanisms. And of course don’t forget John, the character who Jonny - the creator - is playing in upcoming podcast Re: Dracula. You need to remember that Rusty Quill and the transcripts really like to spell Jon (you remember, the main character) as John. Yeah, yeah, so don’t worry, it’s not hard to remember at all.Tumblr post by jewishjon [1]
