John Childermass is one of the secondary characters of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, based on the 2004 novel by Susanna Clarke and subsequent 2015 BBC television mini-series.

He is part of the most popular pairing in the fandom: John Childermass/John Segundus.

Overview

Childermass is Gilbert Norrell's manservant and advisor. He is a practical magician himself. His loyalty to the Raven King often puts him at odds with Norrell.

John Childermass spends roughly 26 years in Gilbert Norrell's service, and hidden between the lines of what we see there are many memories. Here are a few.

In which a flowering fairy orchard introduces a troubling new idea to Childermass and Segundus. (Sex. The idea is sex.)
