Jo DeLuca/Maybelle Fox is a rarepair femslash pairing in the A League of Their Own fandom. Their canon relationship is one of friendship, with Jo and Maybelle being roommates during their time playing for the Peaches. There are a number of affectionate or slightly flirty scenes between the pair which fans have enjoyed exploring further in fan works.
Canon
Jo was the third baseman for the Peaches (before canonically being traded to the Blue Sox) and Maybelle played centre field. As well as being teammates, they were also roommates at the house the Peaches lived at during the baseball season. There are a number of scenes between the pair that indicate a strong friendship formed between the two and Maybelle is particularly heart-broken when Jo has to leave the Peaches.
Fandom
Some fans began exploring the moments of flirtation and affections between the pair as romantic shortly after the series aired and the pairing built up a relatively small following over the following months.
On Archive of Our Own, Jo/Maybelle are tagged in 111 of the 1,680 works in the fandom, though some of these have them as a background pairing to the more often written about pairing of Carson Shaw/Greta Gill. Just 14 works are solely tagged with the pairing.
