Note: This is not a list of canonical terminology per se. It's a list of Sentinel-specific terms that get used within the fandom, so people coming in can understand discussions and fanfic.
- 852 -- When mentioned within the fandom, this usually refers to the 852 Prospect archive ("I read this on 852..."). The name comes from canon; Jim's address is 852 Prospect St., which may show up in fanfic as well.
- Blairbabes -- Fans whose favorite character is Blair and/or who take Blair's "side" in fan discussions.
- Blessed Protector -- Sometimes shortened to "BP", often used as "Blessed Protector mode". Canonically, at the end of the episode Cypher, Blair told Jim that since Jim had saved his life, he was now responsible for Blair, a sort of "blessed protector". (Never mind that equally canonically, Blair had saved Jim's life first so it should have been the other way around.) Canon never refers to this again; the fandom took it and ran with it, and fanfic Jim is liable to drop into hyper-protective "Blessed Protector mode" at the drop of any potentially dangerous hat.
- Jimbabes -- Fans whose favorite character is Jim and/or who take Jim's "side" in fan discussions.
- Guide voice -- Purely a fanon notion. A particular voice that Blair uses to pull Jim out of "zoneouts".
- Guppy -- A nickname for Blair in some corners of fandom; also "Little Guppy", "Gupcake", etc. because Jim called Blair "my little guppy" in the episode Poachers.
- Hairboy -- A nickname for Blair in some corners of fandom, because Henri Brown called Blair that sometimes.
- the loft -- In canon, Jim's (and Blair's) home.
- mommy car -- One of Jim's many vehicles (he crashed a lot of them over the series). This particular version was a teal SUV, something you'd generally see a soccer mom driving.
- Naomi -- Naomi Sandburg, Blair's mother. She's a free spirit, wandering in and out of Blair's life, but they keep in touch with letters. She was the direct cause of a lot of the angst of the finale, by turning Blair's dissertation over to a publisher and thus abruptly making Jim's senses publicly known.
- panther -- Jim's canonical spirit animal is a black panther (actually a black jaguar, to tie in with Cascade's sports team, the Jaguars, but the fandom went for panther from the get-go, and "jaguar" never got any traction).
- Sentinel and Guide -- note capitals. This is generally a "bonded" relationship of some sort.
- Stephen -- Stephen Ellison, Jim's brother. They were raised to be highly competitive with one another, and had a distant relationship as adults.
- William -- William Ellison, Jim's father. When Jim was a boy, his father considered him a "freak" because of his enhanced senses and was determined to make sure no one found out about them.
- wolf -- Blair's canonical spirit animal.
- zone -- also "zone out", "zoneout factor". Canonically, Jim can get utterly distracted by something (a sight, a smell, etc.) to the point of not noticing anything else around him when he's not in full control of his senses. In fanfic, this is a semi-regular experience, something that often only Blair's "Guide voice" can pull Jim out of.
