Jeannie Walton is a woman who is trying to escape the clutches of an evil drug lord, Ben Forest. She, unbeknownst to Starsky, asks Hutch for help. Hutch hides her away in a beach house. Forest kidnaps Hutch, injects him with heroin to get him hooked, and then uses the pain of withdrawal to get Hutch to tell him where Jeannie is.

The Fanon Jeannie
Jeannie ends up leaving Bay City at the end of the show. This leaves open the possibility of Hutch running into her later, a topic fanfic sometimes explores.
But Jeannie herself is not usually the focus of most fiction. Instead, it is her impact on Starsky and Hutch's relationship that is explored. Some subjects: why did Hutch keep Jeannie a secret from Starsky, even when he knew it was a dangerous situation, supposedly an invalidation of "me and thee"? And, if, in the end, Hutch gave Jeannie up to Ben Forest in his desperation for more heroin, would he have done the same to Starsky?
