Jason is the son of divorced parents Marvin and Trina. He is friends with his father's boyfriend Whizzer and his psychiatrist is his step-father Mendel. He is frequently described as being neurotic. Jason is heterosexual, a fact which he doubted on the basis of a gay "gene." He had his bar mitzvah in Whizzer's hospital room.
