The ultimate morning after story. When two best friends have a very drunken night before, just what happens in the morning? The imagery in this one is amazing. This fic also includes the sex scene that never ends. Just as a warning. ^_~ [1]
I believe this is the story I've re-read most often in the The Sentinel fandom. In it, Linda describes a Jim Ellison who lets go of his rigid self-control and allows Blair close. Part of that is told in the form of flashbacks to the night before, while the rest of the story picks up on the morning after. Linda's decision to use solely Blair's POV to present the events unfolding was the perfect choice; one empathizes with Blair's panic upon awakening and feels the same awe as him when Jim's walls come down and give Blair the chance to read his innermost thoughts and feelings. Jim is deliciously vulnerable, Blair adorably confused, and the love slowly growing between them manages at all times to stay a few steps ahead of cloying romance. Addictive.[2]
The morning after an evening of too much wine and too few inhibitions, Jim and Blair come to an understanding about their relationship. One of the first TS stories I ever read, I've gone back to it again and again. Deirdre's Jim is wonderfully, believably tender, even romantic, without ever being sappy. Her Blair is confused and freaked and touchingly vulnerable. You really feel the love between the two men, and it's very, very sexy.[3]
